The Rock: 7 Mile and 14 Mile

The Rock: 14 and 7 Mile Trail Race – REGISTER HERE!

Come out and spend your Valentine’s weekend falling in love with Hanging Rock State Park and its amazing trails and views. We’ve put together a beautiful, but challenging, course to make you earn the finish line. These trails are technical and there are some mighty fun climbs, but you will have the time to complete them. Dinner dates and movie nights aren’t what trail runners do when they want to enjoy themselves. So grab a friend, a partner, or a spouse and come join us on the trails!

Follow us on Instagram and Facebook (Vagabond Endurance) for updates and information regarding the pandemic. Our current permit only allows us to have 40 runners until the Governor opens up the ability for more people to be around each other outdoors. We expect this to change, but this is the era of covid, so there are no guarantees. If you want to come run, register early.

Swag – All entrants will receive a t-shirt with their entry fee, as well as a some amazing views within a fantastic State Park

Finisher Award – We are hand crafting a special Valentine’s Day award for all finishers. Pictures will be posted in December on our Instagram/Facebook pages

Start Time – All events will start at 8:30 unless the restrictions change and we can increase the number of participants. If so, the 14 mile solo will start at 8:30, the 14 mile relay at 8:40, and the 7 mile solo at 8:50. This will decrease the amount of runners you will need to be around, but will also give you the most amount of time to complete the race.

Cut-Off – This race will end at 3pm giving all 14 mile runners a very generous 2.5 miler per hour pace. For you 7 Mile runners, you could take this as an easy stroll in the forest if you want to, and still get a finisher’s award. We try to give you the best chance possible to finish so that runners of all levels can come out and challenge themselves to an achievable goal.

Places to Stay: Hanging Rock State Park is in Danbury, NC and sits about 30 minutes north of Winston-Salem, NC. Although the closest hotels/motels are roughly 20-30 minutes away, you can find cabins and Air BnB rentals closer to the park if you want to make it a Valentine’s weekend in the area.

Feel free to reach out with any questions, and we will continue to try and update this page as more information becomes available. If, by chance, this event is forced to cancel by order from the Park, State, or Federal government, we will not be issuing refunds. We are a two person company and invest all the money we receive into putting these events on. We will offer a virtual option at that point and give you the course map so you can run it on site if you choose. These are tough times and we hope you understand our decision. Thank you.
